ABOUT ME

Reggie LeFlore is a self-disciplined visual artist with over fourteen years of experience creating murals and public art. His practice is rooted in the concepts and philosophies of street art culture and informed by contemporary illustration, combining tools such as aerosol, stencils, paint markers, and graphic design. Through these mediums, he produces works defined by intentional color choices, layered techniques, and thoughtful subject matter, ranging in scale from small canvas pieces to large-format public installations.

At the core of his work is a commitment to sharing and celebrating the diverse narratives that shape society. Portraiture serves as his primary visual language, supported by elements drawn from fashion, city life, rural environments, and nature. These components function as symbols of identity - personal, cultural, and collective - allowing each piece to reflect the lived experiences and stories of the individuals and communities represented.

His artistic approach was shaped early through travel and exposure to murals and public art, both within and beyond the United States. Growing up in Omaha, Nebraska during the 1990s and 2000s, he became increasingly inspired by the creative communities of larger cities such as Kansas City, Chicago, Denver, and Minneapolis, where he relocated in 2015. International experiences in Hong Kong, Montreal, and Central America further expanded his perspective, reinforcing the power of public art as both a universal language and a tool for connection. These encounters continue to inform his visual storytelling and deepen his desire to create work that resonates across cultural boundaries.

Connection remains central to his practice. He considers much of his work inherently collaborative, as many projects are realized through partnerships with organizations, businesses, and community leaders. Collaborations have included the Minnesota Timberwolves, Hennepin Arts, Lake Street Arts, Rondo Community Land Trust, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and Children's Minnesota, among others. These partnerships emphasize shared vision, trust, and the importance of the arts in public spaces.

Beyond institutional collaborations, he works closely with other creatives - including models, photographers, storytellers, and artists - to explore narratives tied to culture and identity. These relationships allow him to create work that is both visually compelling and deeply human, grounded in real stories and lived experiences. Ultimately, his goal is to create art that invites reflection, fosters dialogue, and strengthens the connections between people and the spaces they inhabit.

Artist's Tools

Aerosol/spray paint - mostly Montana Gold/Black since most local stores carry this brand, but MTN94s would be my main preference.

Water based paint markers - Posca markers do the job, but Montana markers aren't all that bad either, especially since they match up with most of my Gold brand paints.

Multi-layered stencils - used as the basis of most of my smaller canvas works. Stencil layers are printed from a local print company, then cut by hand in the studio.

Graphic design - Adobe Photoshop, but I'm making some transitions into other similar programs. Infinity Painter on the Samsung Galaxy Tab is pretty dope too, as I use it to make handwritten logos.
